Prof. Menelito Mansueto is a faculty member in the Department of Philosophy at Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology. He is the author of the book Decolonial Turn in the Philippine South. He has taught at the University of Santo Tomas, Far Eastern University – Diliman, Bohol Island State University, and Colegio de San Juan de Letran in Manila. He holds a master's degree in Philosophy from Holy Name University in Tagbilaran City. He has published several articles in indexed local and international journals and presented papers in Marburg, Germany, and Tokyo, Japan. He is part of the organizing committee for the SES-PUP International Ethics Conference at Waseda University in Tokyo. Prof. Mansueto has also presented research papers at the PHAVISMINDA Conferences, the Social Ethics Society (SES) Conferences, and the International Public Health Ambassador Conference (IPHA). He delivered an important paper during the Mindanao Conference on Public Health held at North Valley College. Prof. Mansueto is a dynamic young leader in academic circles in Mindanao and serves on the board of the Social Ethics Society. He has been part of Department of Science and Technology-funded research on indigenous communities in Mindanao that has produced three Scopus-indexed papers. He has also published a book chapter in Ethics in Contemporary Philippine Society in both Volumes 1 and 2. He serves as a peer reviewer for various local and international journals and is a co-author of the newly released book Radical Politics in the Philippines.



​Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc is an ASAP Global Justice Program Fellow at Yale University, where he was mentored by the renowned philosopher Thomas Pogge. He is an Associate Professor at Ateneo de Davao University and a Visiting Lecturer at Silliman University. He was also a Visiting Scholar at Lanzhou University in Gansu Province, China. Dr. Maboloc obtained his PhD in Philosophy at the University of San Carlos, maxima cum laude. He has a master's degree in Applied Ethics from Linköping University in Sweden and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, Norway. He also holds a master's degree in Philosophy from Ateneo de Manila University. He was trained in Democracy and Governance at the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung in Bonn and Berlin, Germany. He was a delegate to the Erasmus Mundus General Assembly in Brussels, Belgium. He has presented papers at Nagoya University and Kumamoto University in Japan; Lanzhou University in China; the 24th World Congress of Philosophy in Rome; the Asian Institute of Technology and Chulalongkorn University in Thailand; the SES-PUP International Ethics Conference at Waseda University, and at Perdana University and the International Medical University in Kuala Lumpur. Dr. Maboloc was awarded the Public Intellectual Prize by the Philosophical Association of the Philippines in 2020. He is the author of the book Radical Democracy in the Time of Duterte.

In 2017, the National University of Singapore asked Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc to write an op-ed for Wataru Kusaka's book Moral Politics in the Philippines which was subsequently published by the Philippine Daily Inquirer.  This inspired Maboloc to write about Philippine democracy.  Maboloc wrote a proposal on the topic. Ateneo de Davao University funded Maboloc’s research entitled 'Radical Democracy in the Time of Duterte." Francis Jeus Ibañez: A Radical Theory of Democracy

  By Francis Jeus Ibañez I am exploring a theory of democracy that is based on the Philippine context through its own madness. It is not the radical democracy as explained by Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc. Instead of Chantal Mouffe, I will use Jacques Derrida in what I consider as a radical approach to democratic theory. Derrida in his post modern approach rejects any foundation. This decentering means we move the fulcrum away from a central figure. In Philippine society and in Maboloc's case, former President Duterte. His critics are also wrong for insisting on strictly appropriating Mouffe. The Philippines has a different context.  Maboloc's approach is being questioned for misappropriating radical democracy. But one has to admit that given the context, his approach can be considered as a radical theory of democracy.
